Ceremony at Arlington National Cemetery on July 5th
LAS VEGAS, NV – The Invisible Enemy will lay a wreath at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier to commemorate U.S. Military veterans who have died due to their exposure to toxic radiation and materials while stationed on the Nevada Test and Training Range (NTTR).
“These people served and died for their country,” said Dave Crete, former Air Force Sergeant and chairman of The Invisible Enemy. “But their government thinks they should be unknown soldiers.”
Because their missions and duties were and remain highly classified, the DoD will not even acknowledge they served on the NTTR or in the DoD. Officially, these veterans don’t exist. As a result, they cannot access veterans benefits, including medical care that could improve or save their lives.
The Invisible Enemy is non-profit organization advocating for the passage of HR 1400, federal legislation that requires the DoD to release the service records of NTTR veterans to the Veterans Administration and allow them to access to the comprehensive benefits they have earned.
“After decades of denial, we’re finally making real progress,” Crete said. “We’re working with members of the House and Senate to support this resolution and make it the law. Hopefully, before more veterans die because of their exposure. Including me.”
The wreath-laying ceremony will take place on Saturday July 5th at 12:15 PM at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier in Arlington National Cemetery. The public is invited to attend.
“This is a real honor for The Invisible Enemy and for me, “ Crete said. “I loved being in the Air Force. I loved my job on the NTTR. But no soldier should have to die unknown. And those who have must be respected and remembered.”
